Monmouth Park’s $300 first-ever “Last Chance/First Chance” NHC Qualifier was held on Saturday, January 25 and Kevin Cox of Baldwin, NY finished in the top spot.

Cox bested a field that included 147 entries. Headlined by an all-in bet on Zulu Alpha in the Pegasus World Cup Turf, he turned his starting $200 bankroll into $1,993.80 by betting races from Aqueduct, Gulfstream and Tampa Bay.  Contest players could only bet win, place and/or show and needed to bet a minimum of $20 per race.

By finishing first, Cox takes home the first-place cash prize of $3,350.  Already a double-qualifier for 2020, Cox elected to take a 2021 NHC seat with his choice of year.  Second-place finisher Bob Bandzwolek will be attending the 2020 NHC.

Monmouth Park’s next handicapping contest is coming up on Saturday, February 29. The $250 Simulcast Series Qualifier #1 will feature Gulfstream Park, Aqueduct and Tampa Bay.  The overall winner receives a 2020 $2,000 Pick Your Prize Handicapping Challenge seat.  The Top 10 finishers earn a spot in the May 9 Simulcast Series Invitational.
