Upset City Holds Off Late Challenge To Take Friday’s Feature

Oceanport, NJ- Holly Crest Farm’s Upset City opened a daylight lead around the far turn and held off the late charge from favorite Julia Chubouli to score a length and a quarter victory in Friday’s $50,000 allowance feature for New Jersey breds at Monmouth Park.
Trained by John Mazza and ridden by Victor Lebron, Upset City stopped the clock for the six furlongs over the fast main track at 1:11.31 and paid $11, $4.80 and $3.20 for the win. Julia Chubouli completed the $32 exacta as the 6-5 favorite and paid $2.80 and $2.40. It was another 5 ¼ lengths back to Piney Blues, who paid $3.20 for show.
The 4-year-old filly by D’wildcat out of the Geiger Counter mare Count the Kisses has now won two of her last three races and has posted a 2-1-0 record for her six career starts, good for earnings of over $50,000.
