Stonetastic Rock Solid In Regret Stakes Romp

Oceanport, N.J. – Stoneway Farm’s Stonetastic cruised to an early lead in Saturday’s $75,000 Regret Stakes at Monmouth Park and never looked back, opening up to a nearly 7 length score in the six furlong test for fillies and mares.

With a peek back from jockey Paco Lopez at the top of the lane, Stonetastic hit another gear for the final 1/8th of a mile, stopping the timer in a snappy 1:08.37 over the fast main track.Sent off the 2-5 favorite in the field of five, Stonetastic returned $2.80, $2.20 and $2.10.Bustin Out, who tried to stay close to the pacesetter for the first half mile, completed the $7.60 exacta and paid $4 and $2.20.It was another 3 ½ lengths back to Sky Gold, who paid $2.60 to show.

“That was an impressive race from her,” said winning trainer Kelly John Breen.“She was going so easy I thought the opening quarter might be 22 and change and I look up and she’s really moving.We have a couple of races in mind for her, nothing set in stone right now.Our goal is to get back to the Breeders’ Cup.”

A 5-year-old daughter of Mizzen Mast from the Unbridled’s Song mare Special Me, the Grade 2 winning Stonetastic is now a perfect 3-for-3 at Monmouth with lifetime earnings just north of $700,000.
