NYRA Bets Pegasus Stakes Among Five Stakes On Saturday’s 12-Race Haskell Preview Day Program; First Race Post Set For 12:30

Five weeks after becoming owner-trainer Felissa Dunn’s first career stakes winner Kentucky Outlaw will look to back up that performance on Saturday against seven other 3-year-olds in the NYRA Bets Pegasus Stakes, one of five stakes races on Monmouth Park’s Haskell Preview Day card.
Kentucky Outlaw was an impressive winner of the Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park on May 10.
The 12-race Haskell Preview Day program will have a revised first race post time of 12:30 p.m.
The 44th edition of the listed Pegasus Stakes, which carries a $150,000 purse, is the local prep for the July 19 NYRA Bets Haskell Stakes. The top two finishers in the mile and a sixteenth Pegasus Stakes receive free entry and start fees to the Haskell Stakes.
Barbadian Runner, who captured the off-the-turf Jersey Derby at Monmouth Park on May 31, will look to add a fourth stakes win this year in the Pegasus. He also won the Miracle Wood Stakes and the Spectacular Bid stakes at Laurel over the winter.
The field for the Pegasus Stakes from the rail out: Kentucky Outlaw, Barbadian Runner, Garamond, Valentinian, Bracket Buster, Wildncrazynight, Just a Fair Shake and National Law.
The lightly-raced Garamond, trained by Chad Brown, was third in the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes. Bracket Buster, trained by Vicky Oliver, was second in the Grade 3 Lexington Stakes on April 12 at Keeneland.
The Eatontown Stakes and the Salvator Mile, Grade 3 races each with a $150,000 purse, attracted strong fields.
The field for the mile and a sixteenth Eatontown Stakes, which is scheduled for the turf, from the rail out: Maggie Go, Five Towns, Ozara, Lady Firefoot, Delightful Ava, Damaso and Whiskey Decision.
The winning connections of the Eatontown Stakes receive a free entry and start fees to the Grade 3 WinStar Matchmaker Stakes on the Haskell Stakes undercard.
The 78th edition of the Salvator Mile drew a field of nine 3-year-olds and up. The Salvator field from the rail out: Antigravity, Trademark, Tuscan Sky, Offaly Cool, Surface to Air, Vitality, Nelson Avenue, Awesome Ruta and Bishops Bay.
The winning connections of the Salvator Mile receive a free entry and start fees to the Grade 3 Monmouth Cup on the Haskell Stakes undercard.
The listed Monmouth Stakes, at a mile and an eighth on the grass, attracted a field of eight 3-year-olds and up as well as one main track only entry. The top two finishers receive free entry and start fees to the Grade 2 United Nations on the Haskell Stakes undercard.
The field for the listed Monmouth Stakes from the rail out: Kingmax, Atlast, Redistricting, Izzy D’Oro, Master Piece, Otago, Signator, Highestdistinction and MTO Brooklyn Guy.
In addition to the four Haskell Preview Day races, the final race on the card will be the re-scheduled Lady’s Secret Stakes, a listed event at a mile and a sixteenth for 3 year olds and up.
The first 6,000 paid admissions on Saturday will receive a coupon that can be redeemed for a Monmouth Park hoodie.
The final five races on the card are stakes races.
