Friday’s Monmouth-At-Meadowlands Card Draws 69 Entries (Plus Four Also Eligibles) For Six-Race Program

September 28, 2023

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The all-turf Monmouth-at-Meadowlands meet will look to resume on Friday – weather permitting — with 69 horses (plus four also eligibles) entered for the six-race card.

First race post time is 7 p.m.

Last Saturday’s card was canceled due to inclement weather.

A $45,000 maiden special weight sprint for state-breds, 3 and up, headlines the Friday card. The five-furlong dash goes as the fifth race.

Giant James, second at a mile and a sixteenth on the grass at Monmouth Park in his last start, will be cutting back in distance for trainer Kent Sweezey in an effort to break through the maiden ranks.

The program features a carryover of $18,488 for the Jackpot Pick 6.

After the first two weekends of the 10-day meet, Paco Lopez tops the rider standings with six wins from 10 mounts. Sweezey, Rob Atras and Jose Delgado are tied atop the trainer standings with two wins apiece.

The Monmouth-at-Meadowlands meet runs on Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 14.
