Don’s Marsh Cruises To Victory In Friday Feature

Oceanport, N.J. – Patricia A. Generazio’s Don’s Marsh sat off the early pace of Acini Di Pepe before moving to the outside of him at the top of the stretch and storming home to a two-length victory in Friday’s $51,000 allowance optional claiming feature for New Jersey breds at Monmouth Park.

Trained by Teresa Pompay and ridden by Paco Lopez, Don’s Marsh covered the mile and seventy yards over the fast main track in 1:42 3/5 and paid $3.40, $2.40 and $2.10 as the 3/5 favorite in the field of eight colts and geldings. Cheddar Chub charged late to complete the $50 exacta and paid $16.40 and $7.60. It was just a half-length back to pacesetter Acini Di Pepe, who held for show and paid $3.80.

The 4-year-old colt by Don Six out of the Belong to Me mare Saucy Broad made it three wins in a row, all at Monmouth Park, and boosted his career record to 3-4-2 in 12 starts, good for earnings north of $100,000.
