Daniel Perry Beats Dad to Win January 31 NHC Qualifier

Monmouth Park held a $300 Last Chance/First Chance NHC qualifier on Saturday, January 31, and Daniel Perry of Hamilton, NJ finished in the top spot with a total of $1,452.85.

Perry bested a field that included 101 entries – including his dad Joe Perry, who had the lead going into the contest’s final race. The younger Perry turned his starting $150 bankroll into the winning total by betting races from Gulfstream and Tampa Bay (Aqueduct cancelled).  Contest players could only bet win, place and/or show and needed to bet a minimum of $15 per race.

By finishing first, Perry takes home the first-place cash prize of $3,825. Second-place finisher Brian Fairlie and Perry will be heading to Las Vegas for the 2026 National Horseplayers Championship.
