50-1 Salt And Light Stages Furious Rail Rally To Win Friday Night’s Monmouth-At-Meadowlands Featured Allowance Optional Claimer
October 10, 2025

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Salt And Light, unable to hit the board in three previous grass starts, exploded from mid-pack along the rail and collared the front-running Let Her Run in the final 100 yards for a 50-1 upset win in Friday night’s featured $52,500 allowance optional claimer during the Monmouth-at-Meadowlands meet.
Trained by Holly Harris and ridden by Lane Luzzi, the 4-year-old daughter of Il Postino went on to win by one length.
The winning time for the five furlongs over a firm turf course was :57.20.
Salt And Light returned $102. 20 to win.
Back in the pack in eighth place for the opening half in the 11-horse field of New Jersey-bred fillies and mares, Luzzi and Salt And Like took advantage of an opening along the rail and rallied stoutly to catch Let Her Run, who looked like a winner after carving out fractions of :22.30 and :45.31.
Midway through the final turn Luzzi and Salt And Light were still in eighth but had clear running inside.
Owned by Starting Line Stable, Salt And Light won for the second time in nine career starts.
A Cozy Thing rallied for third, 2¼ lengths behind Let Her Run.
The Monmouth-at-Meadowlands meet resumes Saturday night with a six-race all-turf card. First race post time is 7 p.m.
The meet concludes on Friday, Oct. 17.
