Trainer Jose Sanchez knows he can’t hold out much longer when it comes to La Resolana. After seeing her win all three starts this year, trying state-bred stakes company is the next challenge beckoning for his 3-year-old filly.

Given a stalking trip by jockey Edwin Gonzalez, La Resolana wore down the fraction-setting Red Head Italian in the final sixteenth, going on to a 1¼-length victory in Friday’s featured $62,500 allowance optional claimer for Jersey-breds at Monmouth Park.

Now 4-for-6 lifetime, the daughter of Engage has won all four of her starts at Monmouth Park – two on fast tracks, one in the slop and one on the grass.

“I never thought she would be winning on fast tracks, turf and sloppy tracks,” said Sanchez. “She runs on anything.”

As long as the surface is at Monmouth Park, that is.

“I think she likes being home,” said Sanchez.

La Resolana, owned by Gerardo Franco, covered the six furlongs in 1:11.14 after Red Head Italian did all of the early work on the lead through early fractions of :22.02 and :45.21.

She returned $3.20 to win in the field of six.

It marked Gonzalez’s third win on the six-race card.

After going 3-for-3 this year and basically running her through her conditions, Sanchez said he will take a long look at the Eleven North Handicap on Aug. 23 at Monmouth Park on New Jersey Thoroughbred Festival Day.

“It’s something we have to think about next,” said Sanchez. “She probably belongs there. As long as she comes out of this race good we will have to think about that.

“She just keeps winning and keeps fighting. She doesn’t want to lose.”

Red Head Italian held second, 4¼ lengths ahead of Molly’s a Bullet.
