Monmouth Park’s $1,000 Haskell Handicapping Challenge on Saturday, July 18 saw James Metzger atop the leaderboard.

Metzger’s $8,795 bankroll was best of 276 total entries and landed him first prize of a Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge seat and $15,960.

In total, Saturday’s Haskell contest awarded 9 BCBC seats, two seats to the National Horseplayers Championship and $38,000 cash.

Contest players could participate online using TVG/4NJBETS, Xpressbet, TwinSpires and HPI. All players needed to wager a minimum of $100 on five Monmouth Park races. Available wagering pools were win, place, show, exacta and daily double.

Monmouth Park’s next live-money handicapping contest is Saturday, August 8. That contest sports a $500 buy-in ($250 entry fee, $250 bankroll) and consists of races from Monmouth Park and Saratoga. Players may participate online through TVG/4NJBETS, Xpressbet, or on-site at Monmouth Park. On-site players are eligible for a 25% cash prize bonus.

While all mandatory races in the August 8 contest are from Monmouth, the entire Saratoga card will be available for optional plays. Based on 200 entries, the prize pool will consist of two BCBC seats, two NHC seats and $20,000 cash.

Xpressbet players can register with Skirka or directly through Xpressbet up until first post on Saturday, August 8. On-site players can only register day-of from 11am-1:30pm.
