73 Horses Entered for Thursday's 6-Race Meadowlands Opener

The Meadowlands kicks off the first of 13 all-turf race cards on Thursday, Oct. 1, with 73 horses entered across the six-race program.

            Thursday’s action will be highlighted by a $37,500 allowance feature at five furlongs, which goes as the third race on the program.

            The Monmouth-at-Meadowlands meet runs through Saturday, Oct. 31, with live racing Thursdays through Saturdays from Oct. 1 through Oct. 10, followed by a Columbus Day card on Monday, Oct. 12.  Racing will continue on Fridays and Saturdays from Oct. 16 through Oct. 31.

            Post time will be 7 p.m. nightly, with the exception of Columbus Day, when post is 2:15 p.m.  For Oct. 30 and 31, Breeders’ Cup days, post-time has yet to be determined.

            A full slate of activities and dining options will be available throughout the Monmouth-at-Meadowlands meet, including the Tri-State Food Truck Mash Up on Saturday, Oct. 3, featuring over 25 food trucks and vendors.  There’s a $25 VIP early bird admission (3:30 p.m.), which includes a $2 betting voucher and $5 in food truck cash.  General admission to the event is $5 beginning at 5 p.m. followed by live music from Bob Lanza at 6 p.m.

            Trotters will be serving a buffet on all live race days with Pink open on Friday’s and Saturday.  In addition, the Victory Sports Bar will be open race days as will the Victory Roof Top Terrace, weather permitting.

            There’s free parking, free admission and free seating, both inside and out at the Meadowlands.  Live programs will be $2, simulcast books $4.  Valet parking will be offered for $5.
