Gelfenstein Farm’s X Y Jet was passed briefly by Blings Express in late stretch only to come again and post a neck victory in the $40,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth on Sunday afternoon.

With Orlando Bocachica in the irons, X Y Jet covered the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:11 4/5 and paid $4.20, $3 and $2.20 as the favorite in the field of seven colts and geldings.  Blings Express completed the $12.20 exacta and returned $3.20 and $2.80.  It was another 2 ½ lengths back to Keepin It Zeal, who rallied to pay $5.20 to show.

Trained by Jorge Navarro, X Y Jet sports a record of 2-5-1 from 10 starts.  A 3-year-old son of Kantharos from the Lost Soldier mare Soldiersingsblues, X Y Jet was making his first start since March.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Saturday, Sept. 26, the final weekend of live racing at the Shore track.  Gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m.  As always, the racetrack is open seven days a week for simulcasting from across the country and around the globe.
