Greed Is Good Rides Rail To Saturday Feature Win; Pick 5 Carryover of $13,112 Into Sunday's Card

Ocean View Stables’ Greed is Good snuck through on the inside of pacesetter Unruly Heir around the turn before drawing clear to a nearly three-length victory in the $50,000 allowance feature for New Jersey-breds at Monmouth Park on Saturday afternoon.

            With Christian Santiago-Reyes in the irons, Greed is Good covered the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:12 1/5 and paid $13.40, $8.60 and $5. Mello Groove rallied to complete the $270 exacta and paid $13.20 and $5.80.  It was a nose back to Unruly Heir, who paid $3.20 to show.

            A 3-year-old gelding by Defrere from the Private Interview mare Terrific Interview, Greed is Good sports a record of 2-3-1 from nine career starts.

            Greed is Good was part of the late Pick 5 sequence, in which no one selected all winners, resulting in a carryover of $13,112 into Sunday’s early Pick 5.

            Saturday’s winners were:  Workerbee ($4) in the sixth, followed by Totally Gaga ($25.20), Bluesville ($65.60), Greed is Good and Royal Stage ($7.60).  Four out of five paid $1,457.

            Monmouth’s early Pick 5 gets underway in the opener on Sunday, post time 12:50 p.m.  Gates open on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
