Saturday’s $200 handicapping contest, the second in the Simulcast Series Challenge, drew a record number of entries and offered an equally impressive list of prizes. Once again held in the Clubhouse Dining Terrace, players were able to watch and wager on competitive stake races including the Grade I Gotham and Grade III Herecomesthebride Stakes, while enjoying their favorite meal in the company of friends and fellow fans.

Following the success of the first Simulcast Series Challenge event, players wagered on full cards from Aqueduct, Gulfstream Park, and Tampa Bay Downs. The Leader Board remained relatively unchanged throughout the day until the last races at Gulfstream and Tampa Bay; a horse at 7:1 odds closed out the Gulfstream card and a 32:1 long-shot drew away to win the last at Tampa by 1 ½ lengths.

The Top 10 Players from this contest earn monetary prizes, while the Top 20 are invited back to compete in the Simulcast Series Challenge Invitational Saturday, April 20. The Top Two finishers in the Invitational earn a seat in the 2014 NTRA/DRF National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas.

I would like to thank all of our players, both new and returning, for making the journey to beautiful Monmouth Park to compete in our highly regarded SSC Tournament. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns (nlince@monmouthpark.com). I look forward to seeing everyone at our final SSC Invitational qualifier Saturday, March 30.
