Meadowlands Cancels Friday's Live Thoroughbred Card

Friday, October 19, 2012

Due to heavy rains throughout the night and early morning in northern New Jersey and with rain in the forecast throughout the afternoon today, the Meadowlands Racetrack has cancelled its live Thoroughbred card for Friday, Oct. 19.

“Obviously the safety of our horses and riders is paramount,” said Bob Kulina, president of Darby Development LLC.  “It was a unanimous decision by all interested parties to cancel today’s racing.”

The six-race all-turf program is part of a Thoroughbred meet running on Fridays and Saturdays from Oct. 12 through Nov. 3.

Live Thoroughbred racing will continue at the Big M on Saturday, Oct. 20 – gates open 11:00 a.m., first post 2:15 p.m.

A two-day place pick six carryover of $3,358.39 from last Saturday’s card will now be added to the pool on this Saturday’s program.  The place pick six, a 50-cent base wager with a 15% takeout rate, requires the winner to select the first or second place finisher in all six races.
