Northwood Bully, $101.60, Wire-to-Wire in Friday Feature

East Rutherford, N.J. – John Petrini’s Northwood Bully took command out of the gate and held off the late charge of Back Away to capture the $30,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at the Meadowlands by a head on Friday afternoon. 

            Trained by Ben Perkins Jr. and ridden by Pablo Fragoso, Northwood Bully covered the flat mile over firm turf in 1:38 2/5 and returned $101.60, $38.40 and $23.40.  Back Away completed the $570 exacta and paid $6 and $4.  It was another three-quarters of a length back to Osceola Prince, who paid $3.60 to show. 

            A New Jersey-bred by Dance With Ravens from the Broad Brush mare Broad Exchange, Northwood Bully has won three of eight starts this season. 

            Live Thoroughbred racing continues at the Meadowlands on Saturday, Oct. 13 – gates open 11:00 a.m., first post 2:15 p.m.  The 2012 Thoroughbred meet at the Big M runs through Nov. 3 with live cards offered on Fridays and Saturdays.
