Englewood Cliffs resident Ed Teicht benefited from a disqualification to capture over $9,000 in prize money, a seat in the 2013 DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship (NHC), and airfare and accommodations in Las Vegas by taking Monmouth Park’s $200 Monmouth/Woodbine handicapping contest on Sunday, June 3.
Sunday’s contest marked the seventh time in as many years that Teicht qualified for the NHC. It is his second time qualifying in a Monmouth Park contest.
The $200 contest, which had players betting on races from Monmouth Park and Woodbine, attracted 186 players – 25 more than the corresponding 2011 event.
Teicht turned his $100 bankroll into $724.10 in besting Terrence Severson ($668.25) and Marina Todisco ($505.30).
Contest players had to bet a minimum of 10 races, five from Monmouth Park and five from Woodbine.
Monmouth Park’s next handicapping contest will be on Saturday, July 9. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
