OCEANPORT, N.J. – Edgewood Farm’s Joonbi gained command shortly after turning for home and held off the late charge of Myprincessallyson to capture the $45,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Saturday by a half length.
Trained by Seth Benzel and ridden by Chris DeCarlo, Joonbi stepped the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:11 3/5 and returned $4.80, $2.80 and $2.60 as the favorite in the field of six fillies and mares. Myprincessallyson completed the $23.20 exacta and paid $4 and $3. It was a length and a half back to My Place Anytime, who paid $3.20 to show.
Saturday’s win was the second in six starts for Joonbi, a 3-year-old daughter of Pollard’s Vision from the Dove Hunt mare Native Trinket.
