The NATC Futurity races return to Monmouth Park this Saturday, with the fillies set to do battle in race five and the colts and geldings in race nine.
A field of seven will go to the post in the fifth race, the $150,000 Monmouth Park NATC Futurity (Fillies). Among the likely favorites is My Due Process, the Dale Romans trainee who broke her maiden two back on the grass at Saratoga; Deep in Your Heart, a debut winner by 9 ½ lengths at Presque Isle Downs on Aug. 9; and, Singlet, a daughter of Real Quiet, who posted a half-length win in her bow on Aug. 5 at Saratoga.
The NATC Futurity, sponsored by the National Association of Two-Year-Old Consignors, is restricted to 2-year-olds that have catalogued during 2011 and have paid all nomination and sustaining fees.
The full field, with rider assignments, for the six-furlong fillies division of the NATC Futurity is:
1.Fiftyfour Forever (Elvis Trujillo)
2.My Due Process (Manoel Cruz)
3.Lady Clara (Joseph Rocco Jr.)
4.Richbelle (Chuck C. Lopez)
5.Chippewa Charlie (Chris DeCarlo)
6.Deep in Your Heart (Oliver Castillo)
7.Singlet (Sheldon Russell)
Four races later, the colts and geldings get their turn at a $150,000 purse. Trainer Terri Pompay will send out an uncoupled entry in Managed Account, an easy winner of his debut on Aug. 13 and Dangerous Trick, who’s been favored in both his starts, but has yet to visit the winner’s circle. The likely favorite in the six-furlong test is Hunt Crossing, who goes for trainer Todd Pletcher. Hunt Crossing was an impressive maiden winner at odds of 1-2 at the Spa on Aug 3, before running seventh in the Grade 1 Hopeful after being bumped at the break.
The NATC Futurity Colts division field, with jockeys, is:
1.Unreal (Manoel Cruz)
2.Hunt Crossing (Elvis Trujillo)
3.Down Broadway (Pedro Cotto Jr.)
4.Managed Account (Pablo Fragoso)
5.My Road Scholar (Victor Molina)
6.Dangerous Trick (Angel Serpa)
