After creating a national sensation in August, Mywifenosevrything and Thewifedoesntknow failed to fire in Sunday’s fifth race running last and third last behind Lady Durlyn, who prevailed in the final strides as the 7-10 favorite in the $33,000 claiming event.

Lady Durlyn, trained by Rudy Rodriguez and ridden by Elvis Trujillo, covered the mile and a sixteenth over the fast main track in 1:45 2/5 and paid $3.40, $3 and $2.20 across the board.  Taylors Irish, a neck back in second, completed the $40.80 exacta and returned $9.20 and $5.80.  It was another neck back to Smart Tori, who paid $4.40 to show.

Following the first meeting between the ‘wives’ on Aug. 22, Larry Collmus’s stretch call became an instant viral sensation on YouTube and was featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter, the Today Show (NBC), Good Morning America (ABC), World News with Diane Sawyer (ABC) and on CNN broadcasts.

Collmus also did a live interview with a radio station in Auckland, New Zealand, appeared on the CBS-TV Early Show, and the nationally-syndicated Inside Edition.

In that first meeting, Mywifenosevrything prevailed by two lengths, with Thewifedoesntknow the bridesmaid.  In Sunday’s fifth race, Mywifenosevrything prompted the early pace before fading around the far turn and finishing last of the seven fillies and mares.  Thewifedoesntknow mounted a challenge nearing the quarter pole, but could not sustain that run and checked in fifth.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Saturday, Nov. 20 – gates open at 11:30 a.m., first post 12:20 p.m.  Closing day of the 2010 season is next Sunday, Nov. 21, and will feature free Grandstand or half-price Clubhouse admission.  As always, the racetrack is open seven days a week for simulcasting from across the country and around the globe.
