New Farm’s Breathoffreshheir strutted her stuff through the stretch to post a two-length win in the filly division of the $70,000 Jersey Juvenile, as Loving Dove reported home a length-and-a-half winner in the male division on Saturday at Monmouth Park.

Trained by Ben Perkins Jr., Breathoffreshheir covered the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:11 flat and returned $4.40, $2.60 and $2.20 as the favorite in the field of six gals.  Ima Jersey Girl, second choice in the event, completed the $13.80 exacta and paid $3 to place and $2.20 to show.  It was four lengths back to Readybdancing, who paid $2.20.

“I had a great tip,” said winning jockey C. H. Marquez Jr.  “Ben [trainer Perkins] told me to try to go to the front, and we left running.  When I called upon her, she switched and I had something in reserve.  Ben decided to put blinkers on after her last race, and I think it made all the difference.”

Saturday’s win marked the second in three starts for Breathoffreshheir, who was adding blinkers for the first time after a runner-up effort on Oct. 3.  In her debut, the homebred daughter by Wildcat Heir from the Appealing Skier mare Uphill Skier was an easy winner on Aug. 29.  Breathoffreshheir has now banked $95,730 for her connections.

In the $70,000 Jersey Juvenile for colts and geldings, Loving Dove rallied under jockey Elvis Trujillo to capture the six furlong contest in a time equal to the filly’s race, 1:11 flat.  Loving Dove paid $10.40, $3.80 and $3 and topped the $37.60 exacta.  Runner-up Porcini Prince paid $3.20 to place and $2.80 to show.  It was another three-quarters of a length back to longshot He Is a Hotty, who paid $14 to show.

“He’s been keeping some pretty nice company lines,” reported winning trainer Gregg Sacco.  “He’s a very talented sprinter with a nice closing kick.  I think as time goes on, he’ll be good both short and long.”

Loving Dove racked up his second win in five starts by taking the Jersey Juvenile.  The gelding by Mo Mon from the Dove Hunt mare Dove Creek, has earned $89,500 for owner Red Oak Stable.
