OCEANPORT, N.J. – Shadwell Stable’s Al Muhtasib moved by pacesetter Bwana Moja late in the lane to post a length win in the $47,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park on Sunday.

Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin and ridden by Joe Bravo, Al Muhtasib made his many backers sweat it out in the lane before the 2-5 choice asserted his authority in the shadow of the wire.  The winner returned $2.80, $2.20 and $2.10 as he stopped the timer in 1:42 flat for the mile and 70 yards over the fast main track.  Bwana Moja completed the $16.80 exacta and paid $6.80 to place and $4 to show.  It was another length and a quarter back to The Cognac Kid, who paid $2.80 to show.

A $520,000 yearling purchase in 2008, Al Muhtasib earned his second victory in seven career starts.  The colt by Distorted Humor from the A.P. Indy mare A.P. Interest sports a lifetime record of 2-1-2, with both wins coming at Monmouth.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Saturday, Oct. 30 – gates open at 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m.  As always, the racetrack is open seven days a week for simulcasting from across the country and around the globe.
