In a dramatic finish in one of the most memorable Haskells in Monmouth Park history, would-be Horse of the Year Point given wore down his rival to scoore a half-length victory in the $1.5 million race. Trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Gary Stevens, Point Given returned $2.60 as the 1-5 favorite and topped a $14 exacta with pacesetter Touch Tone. Late closing Burning Roma was third.
A record crowd of 47,127 were on-hand to see the colt by Thunder Gulch invitational race in 1:49
