Race Summary

A longshot prevailed in 1978, as Dogwood Stable’s Delta Flag, trained by Monmouth regular Larry Jennings, scored by three-quarters of a length over 7-5 favorite Dave’s Friend. Delta Flag, second longest shot in the field, paid $36.80 to win. Star de Naskra, who finished sixth as the second choice at 3-1, went on to become the Eclipse Award-winning sprint champion of 1979.
