Winstar Farm/Pletcher combination will be looking for repeat of 2006 when they took the Haskell with Bluegrass Cat.  This colt has only been off the board once in eight starts, and that came in an eighth-place Kentucky Derby finish.  Blew away all challenges in most recent triumph at Belmont and will have a month off to regroup.  Gave Street Sense all he could handle in Tampa Bay Derby and has every right to turn the tables Aug. 5.  Running style suits Monmouth Park and connections are the best in the business.

Was a game runner-up behind Street Sense in the Kentucky Derby, and followed that up with a third in the Preakness and fourth in the Belmont.  Speedy colt won his first four races of his career and later added a stakes victory in the Grade III Lane’s End.  His running style, in addition to the cutback to 1 1/8 miles, would make him a threat at Monmouth.

Track record holder at 1 mile and 70 yards will bypass the Long Branch Stakes and train up to the Haskell.  Undefeated colt has done nothing wrong yet including a front running score in the Coronado’s Quest.  Has definitely never faced the likes of Street Sense, Curlin and others but could be ready to take his game to the next level come Haskell Day.  Local favorite will have the backing of the hometown fans and should show speed throughout. 

Last year’s Sapling winner is 2 for 2 at Monmouth Park and comes into the Haskell off a stakes victory in the Barbaro at Pimlico.  Has never beaten the likes of Curlin or Hard Spun but has more experience over the Monmouth track than everyone except Cable Boy.  Tactical running style could result in a perfect spot early, and he may be in a position to get first run at the leaders. 

Orseno trainee is coming off a last-to-first allowance win at Monmouth on July 19.  Has only two careers wins to his credit but both have come over this track.  Was fourth behind Cable Boy in that one’s track-record performance in June and has definitely never faced the likes of Curlin and Hard Spun.  Will be near the back of the pack early on, and will need a fast pace to set up his late run.
