As amazing as it might seem – yes, it’s already mid-July – the William Hill Haskell is right around the corner. And this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever. A top-class field is expected for the Shore's biggest race, a superb undercard promises many great betting opportunities topped by a $250,000 guaranteed late 50-cent Pick 4 and a $100,000 guaranteed 50-cent Pick 5, and who doesn’t want a Haskell hat.
But there are also plenty of new additions to Haskell Day and the days leading up to Haskell Day this year. Let’s explore a few of those, shall we?
Let’s start at the beginning. I guess the biggest change for 2014 is that it’s no longer just Haskell Day. Haskell WEEKEND offers a variety of entertainment options for literally all ages.
The kickoff to Haskell Weekend is the second annual Joes vs. Jocks Mini Golf Festival Friday, July 25 after the races. Bring the entire family out for this great night of mini golf, music, food and fun. Share the course with some of your favorite Monmouth Park jockeys and help raise money for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund!
Haskell Weekend continues Saturday, July 26 with Ladies’ Day sponsored by Lilly Pulitzer Shops at Riverside. All ladies wearing a hat or fascinator receive free admission and there’s also a ladies hat contest and Lilly Pulitzer fashion show at the Lady’s Secret Café at 1pm. Lilly Pulitzer will be on-hand selling everything you need to dress like a star on Haskell Day and we’ll also have Bourbon and Boweties selling jewelry and a hat/fascinator vendor so you can look your best on Monmouth’s biggest day.
Haskell Day itself will feature a new hook with the first-ever Haskell Best Dressed Couple contest presented by Lilly Pulitzer Shops at Riverside and Tommy Bahama at Garden State Plaza Mall.
Add the new to what already is our biggest weekend of the summer and Haskell Weekend promises to be the best event of the summer at the Jersey Shore.
We look forward to seeing all of you there.
