Thirteen Arrows broke alertly and never looked back as she took the field gate to wire in Friday’s $41,000 allowance/optional claimer feature at Monmouth Park.

Trained by Larry Jones, Thirteen Arrows made her return to the races a successful one after an 11-month layoff, pulling away to a three-length score.

Thirteen Arrows went the six furlongs on a fast main track in 1:09 1/5 and paid $4.60, $3.60 and $2.40 in the field of seven fillies and mares. Angel Code completed the $27.60 exacta and paid $5.60 and $3.40. It was another length and three quarters to Discreetly Elusive, who paid $2.40 to show.

“She broke really quickly and went right to the front,” said winning jockey Kerwin Clark. “I didn’t want her going too fast early. I got her to relax, but she still went :44 for the half. Once we turned home, I gave her a tap and she went. She is a really impressive filly.”

The 3-year-old daughter of Indian Charlie out of the Cure the Blues mare Stop Traffic is now 3-1-0 in her six career starts, good for earnings over $100,000.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Saturday, July 18 – gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m.
