Ranlo Investments LLC’s Lady Shipman took the field wire-to-wire to win Saturday’s $60,000 Crank It Up Stakes at Monmouth Park by a length and a half.

“She just broke perfectly from the gate and went out to the lead,” said winning jockey Eduardo Nunez. “She does her best running out front. She had plenty left in the tank heading for home. She answered the call beautifully.”

Trained by Kathleen O’Connell, Lady Shipman covered the five and a half furlongs on the turf in 1:04 1/5 and returned $3, $2.20, $2.10 as the 1-2 odds-on favorite in the field of seven. Quaver, who went off at 6-1, completed the $11.40 exacta and paid $4.60 and $3.20. It was another five lengths back to Harlan’s Honor , who paid $3.60 to show.

The three-year-old filly, from Midshipman out of the Honour and Glory mare Honour Colony, has now won five of her seven career starts. This marks the third career stakes victory for Lady Shipman.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Sunday, June 7 – gates open 10 a.m for the 45th Annual Irish Festival. First post 12:50 p.m.
