Three-time leading Monmouth Park jockey Elvis Trujillo returns to the Jersey Shore next Saturday, May 30.

“He wanted to be back at the Jersey Shore,” said Danny Mellul, who will be Trujillo’s agent at Monmouth.  “He had great success in California, but missed New Jersey.  He’ll be back this week and ride next Saturday.”

Trujillo returns to the Shore’s Greatest Stretch after spending a year on the California racing circuit riding at Del Mar and currently at Santa Anita. He has won four graded stakes in 2015, highlighted by the Grade 2 Santa Monica at Santa Anita. He also finished second in the jockey standings in the 2014 Del Mar fall meet.

Trujillo won the riding title at Monmouth in 2009, 2011 and 2012 and finishing second in both 2010 and 2013. In each title-winning season, Trujillo won over 100 races at over a 20% clip.

A 31-year-old native of Panama City, Panama, Trujillo has won several of Monmouth’s top stakes races, including the 2009 United Nations (G1) atop Presious Passion

I just can't have any respect for this guy anymore, I was a huge Elvis fan, I followed him around every track he traveled to.... however recent rumors swirling in Ca. that this young lad cheated on his wife and completely lied to some other young lady after getting her pregnant, and ran away to Jersey to escape leaving her there to pick up the pieces. Talented jock or not, this man is not the man I once believed him to be. Such a shame.
