Monmouth Park’s 2014 event calendar will be highlighted by a number of fan-favorite food festivals including the now three-day Jersey Shore Food Truck Festival on Saturday, May 24 thru Monday, May 26.

Held as a two-day event for the first time in 2013, the street food celebration attracted nearly 33,000 a year ago.  The festival has expanded to three days for the 2014 season.

“In just two years, the food truck festival has grown into one of our most-popular events,” said Pete Verdee, vice president of marketing at Monmouth.  “Now as a three-day celebration, our fans will have even more time to come out and enjoy an exciting, fun, inexpensive day at beautiful Monmouth Park.”

In addition to the Jersey Shore Food Truck Festival, Monmouth Park will again play host to:

·         The 44th Annual NJ Irish Festival – Sunday, June 8

·         Win & Wine Weekend – Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22

·         Shore Chef Crab Cake Cook-Off – Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17

·         BBQ & Craft Beer Festival – Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31

·         NJ Thoroughbred Festival – Saturday, September 6

·         Food Trucktoberfest – Saturday, September 13

The 2014 season will also see a number of new or enriched events:

Ladies’ Day, held last year on August 10, has moved to Saturday, July 26 and will serve as the lead-in to William Hill Haskell Day.  Ladies’ Day will feature a hat contest and fashion show presented by Lilly Pulitzer Shops at Riverside.

The first-ever Heroes’ Backyard Picnic Celebration will take place Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5 and feature food, a “Red, White and Brew” Beer Garden presented by Budweiser, live music, games, eating competitions and much more.  All service men and women receive free admission and there will be fundraisers for local military charities.

Monmouth Park food festivals and other event days will see the institution of the new 2014 Racing Ambassador program.  These local volunteers will help educate fans on all aspects of Thoroughbred racing at Monmouth Park as well as provide tours of the paddock and winner’s circle.

Monmouth Park will be home to a pair of giveaways during its 2014 season.  Coinciding with Grade 1 United Nations Day on Sunday, July 6, all paying fans will receive a free Monmouth Park beach towel.  On NJ Thoroughbred Festival Day, a free long-sleeved T-shirt will be given away.

A lucrative handicapping contest schedule will meet horseplayers in 2014.  A total of four live-season events will award 18 seats for the 2015 DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas, capped by the 10-spot Super Qualifier on Saturday, August 23.

As has become a Monmouth Park tradition, the track will continue to offer Family Fun Days on Sundays and holidays Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, with a range of free activities that includes pony rides, face painting, clowns and inflatable playgrounds.
