Jockeys from Monmouth Park will go head-to-head with the riders from Parx in a charity softball game on Tuesday, Aug. 20, with all proceeds going to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund. Monmouth head coach Joe Bravo will manage a team with jockeys Elvis Trujillo, Paco Lopez, and Captain Jose Ferrer. The Oceanport home team will face the Philadelphia visitors as managers Victor Molina and Josiah Hampshire Jr. coach a team including top Parx riders John Bisono and Kendrick Carmouche.

“It’s a great way to raise awareness and funds for a very worthy cause,” said Coach Joe Bravo, who is also a 13 time Monmouth leading jockey.

Track odds maker Brad Thomas has made the Parx team a heavy 2-5 favorite on the morning line after hearing of their training regiment.

“Word on the street is not only do they have their own uniforms,” Thomas said, “but they practice! I fully expect a blow out here, but I don’t think you can completely rule out the long shots.”

First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. at Wolf Hill, directly across the street from Monmouth Park. All are welcome to come to the game as admission is free.
