In the Pegasus Stakes, his first race after finishing second in the Preakness, Itsmyluckyday was pulled up along the backstretch by jockey Mike Smith and was later diagnosed with a fractured Ilium, a bone in the pelvic region. Trainer Eddie Plesa Jr. says that his horse is coming along very well, and that he expects big things from him in the future.

“Itsmyluckyday is doing outstanding,” Plesa said. “He’s still under stall rest until the first of October. The very end of September we’ll send him in for a bone scan to see how that Ilium’s healing. Mentally he’s doing great, physically he looks great so I’m anticipating a big 4-year-old year for him.”

Itsmyluckyday has won five of his 13 career races thus far, with his most notable win being in the Grade 3 Holy Bull. He has also placed in the Florida Derby and the Preakness, both Grade 1 events. A 3-year-old colt by Lawyer Ron out of Viva La Slew, Itsmyluckyday accumulated $830,100 in lifetime earnings for owners Trilogy Stable and Laurie Plesa.
