While in the gate for the 8th race on May 25, Vizir, a 3-year-old gelding by Empire Maker reared in the gate unseating jockey Chris DeCarlo. DeCarlo hasn’t missed any time since the accident, but was recently diagnosed with tenosynovitis in his left foot, an inflammation around the tendon. He will miss this weekend of racing, but he hopes to be back this Tuesday.

“I hurt my foot in the process and was told to take this weekend off,” said DeCarlo. “Basically it’s a better safe than sorry type thing.”

DeCarlo has won 5 of 44 mounts this meet, good for earnings of $140,480 and a tie for eighth place in the standings.
