In five starts over the Monmouth turf, Wicked Tune has finished out of the money only once. But the 5-year-old Bruce Alexander-trainee hasn’t found the winner’s circle yet this year.

“He’s overdue,” said Fred Deacon, Alexander’s assistant.

Wicked Tune looks well-spotted in Saturday’s $23,000 allowance/optional claiming race at 5 furlongs on the grass. With Just Chillin Boss, who is wheeling back from a race 10 days ago, and It’s Time to Laugh likely to show speed, the pace sets up for Wicked Tune, who breaks from the far outside post in the field of nine.

“He’s a tough horse and he’s run some tough races,” Deacon said of Wicked Tune, who is owned by Patricia Generazio. “He’s been breezing good and training good, so we think he’ll give a good effort.”

Just Chillin Boss, claimed out of a turf win here two starts back by trainer Gregg Sacco,  drew the rail but his trainer doesn’t anticipate that being a problem for him.

“He should be primed for this race,” Sacco said.
