Just Smashing Stakes Attracts Local Hopefuls

Posted Friday, Jun 15, 2012

Quick Flip and Srumdiddlyumptious try to get back in the winner’s circle on Saturday when they line up for the $60,000 Just Smashing Stakes to be run at six furlongs on the main track for 3-year-old fillies.

Trained by Terri Pompay, Quick Flip won the Sandpiper Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs last December and then tried graded stakes company at Gulfstream, finishing fourth in the Grade 3 Old Hat and fifth in the Grade 2 Forward Gal in her last two starts.

Srumdiddlyumptious didn’t fire in her last start in the Inaugural Stakes on Presque Isle Downs’ artificial surface.

“It was her first start on the Poly track and she did no good,” said Kelly Breen, who trains her for George and Lori Hall. “Now she’ll be back on dirt where she’s won and we’re trying to get her back on track.”
