Quiet Winter Farm Charitable Organization held their first ever Fishing Derby & Family Day, in honor of veterans, on Monday, June 27 at Bucksmill Park in Colts Neck, N.J. and was by all accounts a wire-to-wire winner with over 500 people attending and taking part.

“It was a wonderful event,” said trainer J. Willard Thompson, proprietor of Quiet Winter Farm in Colts Neck. “It was great that so many people enjoyed the day with their families and raised money for a lot of great causes.”

The event included a catch and release fishing challenge, a long ball and chipping contest, raffles, games and prizes.  Hamburgers and hot dogs topped the menu and were joined by a warrior challenge and a knitting derby.

The event accumulated over $8,500 raised for Quiet Winter Farm Charitable Organization, which assists veterans suffering from PTSD through equine therapy as well as for scholarships for people who work in the racing industry.
