With a win at the meet already to his credit, Full Salute enters Monmouth Park’s Sunday feature, the $60,000 Select Stakes, as the 5-2 morning line favorite for owner Morris Bailey.

“He’s been on the turf before and liked it,” said trainer Eddie Plesa Jr.  “He’s training really well.  His last race here was super and he’s been doing great since that race.  He’s a talented colt and he should be tough again.”

The turf start referenced is last year’s Tyro Stakes over the Monmouth green where Full Salute was sent off the 8-5 favorite in the field of 10.  He settled for second that day to Expected Ruler, who upset his rivals at 47-1 to break his maiden at first asking in that stakes event.  Expected Ruler will break from post six on Sunday, two stalls inside Full Salute.  Expected Ruler, who won two-back at Keeneland, is the 7-2 second choice in the field of nine 3-year-old colts and geldings.

Since last year’s Tyro, Full Salute went on to a runner-up finish in the Sapling, captured the Hall of Fame Stakes at Parx and the Buffalo Man at Gulfstream Park West before finishing sixth in the Grade 3 Hutcheson in January while wide around the turn.

The come back race for the son of Speightstown was May 22 where he won a nose decision after setting all the fractions, stopping the timer in 1:09 3/5 for six furlongs.

The Select Stakes at 5 ½ furlongs, goes as the tenth of 11 races on Sunday’s card, approximate post time will be 5:24 p.m.
