With a win in her most recent start, Indian Splendor heads to the Monmouth turf, a surface she’s three-for-four on, in this Saturday’s featured $60,000 Honey Bee Stakes at 5 ½ furlongs.

In the colors of Castaway Stable LLC, Indian Splendor has a lifetime mark of 5-7-3 from 23 outings, including a win last out at Gulfstream on April 21 when she took her foes gate to wire.

“She’s a real nice mare,” said trainer Jason Servis.  “She obviously likes it here at Monmouth.  She’s got good early speed, which is typically helpful in races like this.”

Indian Splendor has won one race a year at Monmouth since 2013 when she broke her maiden.  In addition to victories at Monmouth and Gulfstream, she sports a win in an off the turf event at Saratoga where she dead-heated for the victory just after her maiden score.

“She shows up every race,” Servis said.  “She breaks quick and puts herself into position.  From there, we just see what happens.”

Antonio Gallardo has the call on Saturday and that pair will break from post six in the field of eight, which includes the main track only entrant, Four Inch Heels.

In addition to those two runners, the field includes a pair from the Jorge Navarro barn (Forest Funds and Sky Gold), a trio from Kate DeMasi’s camp (Burn Control, Everything Lovely and Joya Real) and one New York import (Sunnysammi) for trainer George Weaver.

The Honey Bee goes as race 11 on Saturday’s 12-race program.  Approximate post for the race named in honor of New Jersey’s state insect is 5:56 p.m.
