Speed Seeker looks to repeat her performance in her last stakes win when she takes to the Monmouth Park turf course for only the second time in her career in Sunday’s $75,000 Miss Liberty Stakes going a mile.

“She really likes coming back to Monmouth,” said trainer Joan Scott, who conditions the horses for Robert Johnson, Frank Coniglio and Frank Ferrogine.

The five-year-old mare by Heatseeker out of the Southern Halo mare Seraphic Too went wire-to-wire two starts back to win the Tampa Bay Downs Distaff Turf by two lengths, setting a stakes record.

“We put blinkers on her that day and she showed plenty of speed and ended posting a new stakes record,” said Scott.

Speed Seeker has worked twice over the Monmouth main track since returning from Florida. The most recent coming on May 21, where she went four furlongs in :49.

“There seems to be some speed in the race, so we will see how she breaks,” said Scott. “Erick Rodriguez will be back aboard and she has run her best races with him riding.”

In her only start on the Monmouth turf, Speed Seeker finished fifth in last year’s Grade 3 Eatontown behind multiple graded stakes winner I’m Already Sexy.

The top two finishers from Speed Seeker’s last start, where she finished fourth in the Powder Break at Gulfstream Park, Cali Thirty Seven and Notte D’oro, return to join the mare back in the starting gate.

Graded stakes winner Isabella Sings, out of Todd Pletcher’s barn, looks to notch another Monmouth Park stakes under her belt as she won last year’s Little Silver and has been set as the 7-2 morning line favorite.

The Miss Liberty goes as race nine on Sunday’s 10-race program.  Gates will open early at 11 a.m. as Monmouth Park hosts the second of a three-day Food Truck Festival.
