Verrazano and Micromanage will be vanned from Saratoga to Monmouth Park and are scheduled to arrive in Todd Pletcher’s barn on the backside on Sunday morning before contesting the $1 million William Hill Haskell Invitational (G1) later that afternoon.

Pletcher, who trains both colts, but for separate ownership interests, confirmed on Wednesday that Verrazano retains the services of John Velazquez and Joe Bravo gets the return call on Micromanage.

In the two colts’ most recent efforts with each coming at Monmouth, Verrazano was an easy 9 ¼ length winner of the Pegasus Stakes (G3) under Velazquez on June 16, and Micromanage was a 4 ½ length winner of the Long Branch Stakes with Bravo in the irons on July 7.

“They’ll both just gallop up to the race,” said Pletcher via text.

On Monday, the Haskell contenders were sent out in company for their final tune-up over Saratoga’s main track, with Micromanage on the outside. Clockers caught them in the identical time of 47.20 for four furlongs, the fastest of 101 horses traveling that distance.

“It was an outstanding work for both horses,” Pletcher said afterward. “They both look super. We were looking for a good solid half-mile with a strong gallop out and I thought we accomplished it with both of them.”

Verrazano, a multiple graded stakes winner whose only loss in six starts was a 14th place finish in the Kentucky Derby (G1), is owned by Let’s Go Stable, Michael Tabor, Mrs. John Magnier, and Derrick Smith, while stakes winner Micromanage carries the colors of Mike Repole.

Pletcher is looking for his first Haskell win since he took back-to-back editions in 2006 with Bluegrass Cat and in 2007 with Any Given Saturday.

The Haskell, which goes as race 13, will highlight a 14-race card on Sunday.  Gates will open at 10 a.m., with first post set for noon.
