Saturday, February 2, 2013 marked the start of the winter simulcast handicapping tournaments at Monmouth Park. With 238 total entries and a first place prize of $11,900, the first of the four-part Simulcast Series Challenge jump-started what looks to be a very successful season. Registration was held in the Clubhouse Dining Terrace from 11am - 2pm where players signed up to wager on races that included a slew of Kentucky Derby preps at Aqueduct Racetrack, Gulfstream Park, and Tampa Bay Downs. The Top 10 players receive monetary awards, while the Top 20 players qualify for the Simulcast Series Challenge Invitational, to be held on Saturday, April 20. The Top Two finishers in the SSC Invitational earn a berth in the 2014 National Handicapping Contest in Las Vegas.

As coordinator for this season's contests, I would like to personally congratulate all of our winners and thank each and every one of you for participating in our first handicapping contest of the year. I look forward to seeing both new and returning players for Simulcast Series Challenge #2 Saturday, March 2! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
