The Meadowlands Racetrack opens for live
Thoroughbred racing this Friday, Oct. 12, with a six-race program attracting a
total of 83 entries. Every race on the
program has overfilled, with each field limited to 10 runners as the portable
rail will be set out 17 feet.
Friday’s featured event, a $30,000 allowance/optional
claiming race at one mile, will go as the fifth on the card with an estimated
post of 4:19 p.m. Among those entered
are New Jersey-breds Seventy Niner and Richiefromshoprite, third last out in
the New Jersey Breeders Handicap.
Meadowlands gates will open at 11 a.m., with the first
live race set for 2:15 p.m. Free general
parking and admission will prevail throughout the meet, with all patrons
entering through the West Grandstand gate.
Live programs are just $1.
Thoroughbred racing at the Big M is scheduled for Fridays
and Saturdays from Oct. 12 through Nov. 3.
On Fridays fields will be limited to 10 starters, while on Saturdays, 12
runners will be permitted as the rail will be set at zero feet.
