OCEANPORT, N.J. – George and Lori Hall’s Srummdiddlyumptious popped out of the gate on top and never looked back, posting a one length win in the $60,000 Just Smashing Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

Trained by Kelly John Breen, Srummdiddlyumptious stepped the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:10 2/5 and paid $26.40, $10.40 and $5.60.  Salad Girl, who tried to catch the winner from the inside, completed the $114.60 exacta and paid $5.40 and $4.20.  It was another neck back to 49-1 shot Defy Gravity, who flew late to pay $10.80 to show.

“I kept her out in the middle of the track down the backside because I think that’s the best part of the track,” said winning jockey Chuck C. Lopez.  “Around the 1/8th pole they tried to come after me, but she dug in well.  I wasn’t really concerned when they drew along side because she’s done that before and fended them off.  She has a lot of heart.”

The Just Smashing win was the third in five starts for Srummdiddlyumptious, a 3-year-old filly by Haskell winner Roman Ruler from the Hennessy mare Livealifeoflove.  She has now banked $119,150 for her connections.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Sunday, June 17 – Father’s Day.  Gates open at 11:30 a.m. with first post set for 12:45 p.m.
