It took every inch of the mile, but Raymar Stables LLC’s Silent Appeal ran down Itsagoodtendollars to capture the $46,000 allowance/optional claiming feature Friday at Monmouth Park.
Trained by Gregg Sacco and ridden by Chris DeCarlo, Silent Appeal tracked the eventual runner-up through early fractions of :23 3/5 and :46 4/5. In the shadow of the wire, the 3-year-old New Jersey-bred colt by Hook and Ladder surged on the muddy main track to win by a nose.
The 5-2 second choice in the field of four colts and geldings, Silent Appeal returned $7 and $4.80. Itsagoodtendollars completed a $30.40 exacta and returned $5.20 to place. Odds-on favorite Framed finished a length back in third.
It was the second consecutive win and fourth of the year for Silent Appeal who now boasts a record of 4-0-2 from 10 career starts.
