Monmouth Park to Open Early for Kentucky Derby Simulcast; Advanced Derby Wagering on Friday

Monmouth Park gates will open at 9:30 am on Friday, May 6, and at 9 am on Saturday, May 7, for simulcasting of Churchill Downs’ Kentucky Oaks Day and Kentucky Derby Day cards, respectively.   

  

Wagering will commence at 10 am both days in advance of Churchill’s 10:30 am first post.

  

In addition to Kentucky Oaks Day wagering, pre-wagering on the entire Kentucky Derby card will also be available Friday.

  

Churchill Downs will host 12 races on Friday with the Kentucky Oaks scheduled for Race 11 and a post time of 5:45 pm.  There will be an Oaks/Derby Daily Double offered Friday as well as a special Oaks/Woodford Reserve Turf Classic/Derby Pick 3.

  

Saturday’s Kentucky Derby Day card will consist of 13 races with the Derby scheduled for Race 11 and a post time of 6:24 pm.

  

Friday’s Kentucky Oaks will be shown live on Versus as part of an hour-long broadcast from 5-6 pm.  The Woodford Reserve Turf Classic and Kentucky Derby will be shown live on NBC as part of their 4-7 pm broadcast.  Monmouth Park track announcer Larry Collmus will have the call of the Oaks, Turf Classic and Derby.

 

The 2011 Monmouth Park season gets underway on Saturday, May 14.
