GRAND JETE ROMPS IN EATONTOWN STAKES;

CHAD BROWN RUNNERS FINISH 1-2 IN GRADE 3 EVENT

          Oceanport, N.J. – Juddmonte Farms’ Grand Jete topped a Chad Brown exacta in the $100,000 Eatontown Stakes on Saturday as the winner angled out for the drive and flew by her rivals to post a length and a quarter score in the Grade 3 event.

          After getting covered up early in the mile and a sixteenth turf test, the Great Britain-bred Grand Jete moved outside of rivals nearing the eighth pole before finding her best stride, stopping the timer in 1:41.30.  The 3-2 favorite in the field of 11 fillies and mares returned $5, $3.60 and $2.80.  Light In Paris completed the $21 exacta and paid $4.60 and $3.40.  It was nearly another length back to Zipessa, who paid $3.60 to show.

          “She was so strong in the post parade,” said winning rider Joe Bravo, after capturing his fourth on the card.  “I expected her to sit closer than I did, but I knew there were some rapid fillies and they were doing their thing up front.  She got us into a good position and made my job really easy.  Her turn of foot was huge.”

          A homebred daughter of Dansili from the Zamindar mare Modern Look, Grand Jete is now a perfect two-for-two since coming to the United States this year.  Last out she took an entry level allowance at Keeneland on April 15.  The 4-year-old has now banked $148,359 for her owner.

          Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Sunday, June 4 – gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m.
